This matching numbers machine was first registered on 4th August 1976; the long hot summer; so I bet it was run in without getting wet! There is a good history file including bills, MOTs, tax discs and a nice service summary by previous owners from new until 2009. MOT certificates support the low recorded mileage and it seems to have had an easy life with little more than basic service items receiving attention. The documents suggest electronic ignition was fitted then junked in favour of points again, resulting in better starting from cold. We will check, but the bike certainly starts easily and sounds in fine fettle, riding so smoothly as only the baby boxer does. The paint on the tank is wearing thin in places but not sure if it’s original or not to be honest. The best example we’ve seen for a while, not that we see many.
