Interesting period Cafe Racer using Rickman frame kit and Kawasaki 900 engine.

Recently imported from Sweden, to be registered in the UK on a correct age-related number and pretty much ready to go with a new MOT. The engine has reportedly been rebuilt and it does sound good so it seems safe to consider the recorded mileage as no indicator of internal mechanical wear. Built early in 1978 and registered in July of that year, it was stayed with the second owner from 1980 until June 2017! The engine starts, idles and performs well without undue mechanical noise or smoke; the Kawasaki 900 is a legendary unburstable piece of engineering and we know it’s been rebuilt so no surprises there. The chassis and bodywork are in good condition without being perfect and could be improved cosmetically with some detailed attention. The exhaust is, well what shall we say; different? Easily replaced with something more conventional but it has a certain period charm. The sidestand spring needs re-working and there is a small oil weep from the tacho drive hence the smoke from the exhaust headers, all easily improved. A really different superbike special and with the names Rickman and Kawasaki on a genuine late ’70s Cafe Racer for less than £9k it’s a great investment as well as a lot of fast fun. The original Rickman instruction and assembly manual is in the paperwork file, which is nice. Looks like a well cared for well used long-term owner machine to us; lots to like about this bike.
