The two-stroke twin everyone wanted in 1966, rare in this condition.

A truly excellent example of this rare and desireable sports twin. First registered in the UK on 5th April 1966, the V5C shows four former keepers but the original RF60 Log Book and continuation book show about twice that. All thise documents show the same engine and frame numbers so this is clearly a “matching numbers” machine which came out of the factory with the engine currently fitted. There is a good collection of old MOTs with the old log books and the bike has been part of a collection of Villiers twin-engined motorcycles for many years. What is clear is that it’s been used. It starts easily and performs well and reliably, safe for road use with the fitment of small indicators as you can see. One of the few bikes that didn’t need much fettling in our workshop prior to sale!
The brochure of the time describes it as follows: “Add the new high powered Villiers 4T engine to a full ‘Sports’ specification and you get…a machinedestined to go places – fast! High cruising speeds, brisk acceleration, comfort, safety, road holding – the Sports Superswift’s got the lot…even a 6″ front brake for top stopping power. There is no mistaking that sleek, racy line, flamboyantly finished in Riviera Blue and Silver with polished alloy and chrome trim.” Can’t argue with that can you?
