Rare late Boxer Twin; ultimate late 80s air-head grand tourer.

BMW discontinued the Boxers in 1983 when they launched the K series “flying bricks”, but they soon found that for a lot of BMW fans the machine had to have no more than two pots arranged to keep the rider’s feet and ankles warm and dry. BMW relaunched the monolever Boxers in 1985 to cater for those BMW faithful who weren’t obeying the orders to love the new-fangled machines. And these relatively rare machines were gems to ride due their later suspension and re-tuned engines. These RS models are not only the best touring motorcycles of a generation; they look the part as well; the fairing has become an icon for BMW and rightly so as there has never been a better one since.
This example has been with us before and covered only about 5k miles in the last 5 years, in which time it has had new fuel taps and lines, oil switch, gear selector seal, pushrod tube seals, tyres, pads, shoes and recently a new starter motor. 48k on the clock is accurate and the bike does come with genuine BMW Krauser panniers. Tool tray and cover and tools even under the seat! Starts easily, idles smoothly as you can hear without smoke or too much noise from the engine, rides very well indeed and certainly looks the part in pearly white. Condition is above average for these; particularly the wheels are excellent; and with a little tidying it could be quite superb. V5C is in order, long MOT, some history including MOTs and a few receipts for parts. Good value classic motorcycling with performance and reliability approaching modern bikes.
