Well sorted R60/5 with some nice upgraded features.

BMW’s 600cc boxer twin is the smoothest and most rewarding back road classic and this particular machine is well sorted and ready to ride. Matching numbers, V5C and all paperwork present and correct including a riders manual. First registered in the UK in 1972, declared manufactured in 1970 so it may have been first registered overseas but nothing on the reg doc says that so maybe it stood in a showroom for a year or so? Speedo is in KM so possibly started life in Germany with UK forces and came back with first owner? There are bills on file confirming a complete rebuild in May 2011 at 78,601km by a well known airhead boxer specialist (ex police motorcycle mechanic). The recorded mileage is now 83,494 (about 52k miles) so it’s no more than run-in since the engine was completely refreshed. The list of work and new parts is exhaustive and includes rebores and new pistons, attention to valves and alternator and so much more to the value of £1,657 (would be more than double that at dealer rates). Since then it’s had a loving restoration including tyres, silencers, new later carburettor with choke, new seat built especially low for the last owner, handlebars and extras such as the screen. And there is more, including a brand new tank beautifully painted in classic black with white pinstripes! The result is a great bike made better, running perfectly and offering reliable classic motorcycling for a bargain price. The older boxers with kick start and drum front brake are appreciating in value and this machine is well priced without all the engine work and new parts so it really is a bargain.
