Sweetly running BSA Thumper retaining much original WD spec.

Price reduced. The WD B40s are the pick of BSA’s 350cc singles due to their stronger bottom end bearings and slightly lowered compression. It makes for a very easy riding machine, and this example is in find mechanical fettle. Starts easily and idles perfectly, no smoke and less noisy than most, it has been rebuilt well in the recent past. A nice document file includes manuals and parts books, old MOTs and tax discs, some parts invoices and reference information. The most interesting documents relate to the engine and frame numbers; which are almost certainly not matching (the engines were swapped between WD machines without any regard to numbers). Dating certificates and e-mail correspondence debate the year of manufacture and possible delivery destination, although the registration documents settle on 1967 in the UK. Scope for some tinkering but most WD B40s are found in this condition and we wouldn’t do much with it other than ride and enjoy.
