BSA D7 Bantam
Matching numbers 175cc Bantam on it’s original 1965 registration, restored in 1994.
This pleasant and very correct little two stroke single came to us after a few years in storage. The V5C tells us it’s had three owners since the orginal registration number was reclaimed in 1994 and invoices on file confirm that the engine was rebuilt with new crank seals and clutch plate in 1998. A solid state rectifier was fitted in 2001 but the electrics have taken quite a bit of sorting out so it cannot have done many miles since the engine work. The bike has just been recommissioned in our workshop, which involved rewiring, new switches and other electrical components to bring it back to original condition; charging well, starting easily, idling smoothly and revving freely when opened up. Letters on file from The Bantam Riders Register confirm this Deluxe model was delivered to Portsmouth CC in 1965 with this registration and these engine and frame numbers. Condition is a mix of good and not so good. Chrome on the rims is excellent, not bad on the tank either but the paintwork is showing it’s age. Needs some miles really, and has potential to be very nice indeed with a bit of fettling.
