Honda made four of these kits to transform their popular step-thru models into something different. “Now you can have a Honda with exactly the styling that suits you best. All from Honda’s great new Custom Group. There’s a sport look, a competion look, a full chrome look and a conservative classic look with high-fashion design”. The Honda Custom Group appears to have been a short-lived USA thing. They go on to say…”Here’s the sporty look; a sleek frame design with new high tank, snappy front fender, contoured seat, accent striped trim. All in all, it’s a big bike look with Honda’straditional economy. Whether you have it for business or pleasure The Roadster is a friend on the road.” What were they smoking?

This Roadster kit is fitted to the rare electric start C102, and when we got it running it was obvious all was not well in the engine. A complete engine rebuild has been completed so for this price you now get as close to a new engine as you could hope for; all new bearings, seals, gaskets and some major components including crankshaft and piston/bore have been replaced. In fact it’s running a S65 piston and bore and has been rebuilt as a larger capacity sports bike. It still won’t live up to the advertising hype though! No video for obvious reasons.

Latest news: Now being sold below cost as a clearance project for anyone willing to finish the job and get it UK registered. It’s been sat at the back of the workshop for over a year now and it’s never going to get to the top of the priority list so out it must go!
