Metisse Triumph 500
Metisse Special built by Metisse Motorcycles.
Built in 1995 by Metisse Motorcycles and only covered seven test miles since. This road going version of the “Steve McQueen” desert sled with lights was produced with a larger tank and roadster twin exhaust to be the coolest Street Scrambler on the road. It was MOTd in 2004 but never road registered and has spent the last ten years displayed as part of a significant collection which is gradually being sold. Specification is Metisse Mk3 frame No 3889 FOB 318005 with a 1970 Triumph Daytona engine number DH31443, 2 bearing crank, 1966 Tiger 100 top end and gearbox, Boyer ignition unit and powerbox. Forks, brake hub and yokes are Betor (Can Am) with a BSA B44 conical hub rear wheel. Rear shocks are Koni, and quality components are to be found all over. Polished alloy Morad 17′ rims front and rear with stainless spokes, fitted with Bridgestone tyres. This machine has been with Classic Bike Workshop for extensive recommissioning work which included re-wiring and fitting a new carburettor. Runs nicely now as you can hear, although some wear was detected in the main bearings, perhaps indicating a hard life in competition and this may be a job to do sometime in the future. It may be road registered if requested.
