Triumph T140V
Excellent mechanical history, recently fettled by Classic Bike Workshop.
A genuinely unmolested low mileage and owners UK Bonneville which is; unusually; better than it looks. Mileage is correct from the huge collection of parts and service invoices and old MOTs on file, which includes an old 1976 brochure and a workshop manual. Most importantly, the whole bike was completely rebuilt in 1998 at 17,595 miles, so very recently in mileage terms. More recently fitted with electronic ignition, belt drive and 7-plate clutch conversion which brings it up to a very desireable specification indeed. When it arrived it was set up incorrectly but with the ignition timed correctly, valve clearances adjusted and the recently rebuilt carbs (new stay-up floats and valves) tuned to perfection it is performing very nicely indeed. A good 750 Bonnie is nice soft old thing with plently of mid-range pulling power and a real rush above 5,000 rpm which feels great on the roads we ride on today. And this is a good 750 Bonnie; admittedly cosmetically challenged but it’s only the fuel tank and a bit of imperfect chrome that lets it down and it would be relatively cheap and easy to transform this bike into something special. A new export tank painted to your preferred design, new seat, a new front mudguard and some detail fittings would lift the bike into the “excellent” catagory for less than a grand. With such a healthy engine, light weight and easy improvement potential this bike offers performance and handling to rival or out-perform many of the fashionable modern retros.
