BMW R90S
Early 1975 matching numbers UK machine with performace upgrades and period extras.
Pretty average condition but low mileage and lovely to ride with a significant number of performance enhancements and period extras. It has a really cool look with shortened handlebars, no mirrors and those classic cast wheels in black and alloy finish. Mechanically very smooth and quiet, performs well with no smoke and no oil leaks so it’s been put together with skill and knowledge. The performance improvements come from twin-plug heads (don’t know whether they are standard inside but commonly gas-flowed with this modification) and what look like slightly extended intake manifolds. Brakes are upgraded to the later master cylinder on the handlebars which gives improved power and feel, and in this case the twin discs are fully floating with Brembo callipers so it’s a trick setup. A fork brace and billet top-yoke complete the front end upgrades and the rear is matched with Betor gas shocks. The cast wheels are unbranded but they look like Lesters perhaps? So period and they give it such a look; it’s a bit of a thug of a 90S! Not much paperwork but the V5C confirms it’s a matching numbers UK R90S and our own research confirms it is a genuine 90S built in November 1974. Could be improved cosmetically and would justify the expense at this price so ride or restore; this is a great R90S being a bit different.
