The desirable 1992 Superlight specification is complete and original in all respects with the possible exception of the wheels. All the books say this model should have the composite Marvic/Akront wheels but the standard ones are fitted to this machine which has all the hallmarks of an original unmolested example, so it’s a bit of a mystery. Whether this is a crossover model (these wheels fitted before and after 1992) or possibly had a wheel change who knows but it’s a good example of the iconic white-framed single seat Superlight 900SS. The specification is correct including carbon front mudguard, ventilated clutch cover, alloy swingarm and numbered plaque on the top yoke for all to see. There is lots to like about this bike; counting the little Cagiva elephants on all the original parts leads to the inescapable conculusion that it’s remarkably original in most respects. There are some exceptions like the blingy anodised fittings and condition is best described as average, which you would expect on a 26 year old bike with 46k miles on the mph clock. There is a nice full history file with service documents attesting to a top-end inspection half way through the recored mileage. There are old MOTs and all the original books including Owners Handbook and Service and Warranty book which is full of stamps up to 21k miles in 1999 and there are more recent invoices in there too. A Dynojet carb kit has been fitted as usual and an alarm is fitted with the key fobs in the pack but this has been disabled thankfully. The bike is MOTd and has just had a new battery, complete carburettor rebuild, sonic cleaning and setup and a very recent front tyre. It’s scruffy though, having had no obvious restoration work and very little use in the last few years. Sounds good now though, so ride or restore it’s a very attractive proposition.
