Kawasaki GPZ1100
Kawasaki’s fuel injected big zed in Eddie Lawson colours. Grab rail to be fitted.
This one has been in the workshop for a while and now just waiting for the grab rail to come back from the powder coaters. New paint, tyres, indicators, gaskets, wiring and many other parts including clutch springs. Replacement ECU, TPS, generator rotor and stator, headlamp brackets and many other quality tested used parts from Kawasaki guru John Browse. Seat rebuilt by RK Leighton and service work by our own technicians; the time and money this project has swallowed is frightening. Service work included oil and filter change, clutch rebuild, valve clearances adjusted and cam timing checked, ignition timing set to perfection, injectors cleaned and rebuilt, balanced and adjusted with Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). It runs nicely now without smoke or mechanical engine noise (can’t say the same for the exhaust) but could do with some road miles after a long period of inactivity. The V5C says 5 former keepers and 1200cc which is odd because 1089cc is standard. Might be a typo or might be a big-bore conversion. The last owner said it was genuine mileage, but that and most of the other things he said are probably untrue so let’s take a guess. It goes like stink, has an aftermarket swing arm, rear-sets and loud 4-1 exhaust so maybe it’s done some sprinting? These things are bullet proof and this one was worth saving so we’ve put much of it back to standard, tested and serviced all the important bits, left some of the tasty bits on, tidied it up and now it’s full of character in Eddie Lawson green. That exhaust by the way (a stainless pre-production Micron from Paul at Codnor Light Fabrications maybe?) is a real blast from the past and it is quite offensively loud! Standard is Red with black chrome 4-2 and a seat your missus would like. Standard this is not.
