Not exactly a classic but of all the retro styled looky-likies this is the one that ticks most boxes for many riders. We have had a couple of the 1960s Kawasaki parallel twins; the W1 and W2; in recently and while they were based on the BSA A10 this W650 blazes it’s own trail with by taking something classic from many different machines over the years. Obviously it’s a 650 twin (now re-released in 800cc form) and the shaft/bevel driven overhead camshaft is a respecful nod to Ducati’s classic singles. Balance shafts and modern electronics provide smooth power and the 650s were still carburettor fed which is nice, and it sounds lovely without being too loud. Nice job Kawasaki. This is an excellent example of a relatively rare appreciating model, with good history and documentation on file. Oh, and heated grips and there is a handlebar screen with it if you like that sort of thing.
