Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone
The rare civilian version of Moto Guzzi’s thumping big single isn’t often seen in the UK so here’s an opportunity to be a bit different. Imported from Italy (copies of Italian documents on file) and first registered here in 2016 on a correct 1972 age-related “K” registration, the V5C shows only one previous keeper. That was almost certainly the importer and there is documentation detailing a complete strip-down and rebuild with the frame being powder-coated red (the original colour) and lots of other cosmetic and mechanical work. This work included a rear wheel rebuild and new rear shocks. The white paintwork lets it down a bit but overall it’s in very good standard condition, everything works and it’s a joy to ride. Classic Bike Workshop have just have just given it a top-end rebuild and valve service which included new gaskets and seals so it should stay oil-tight for many years to come. Electric start is real bonus on a big single and the way this huge starter motor puts inertia into the huge (enclosed) flywheel to provide easy and reliable starting is a joy to behold, as you can see in the video. On the road it’s lazy in character but surprisingly punchy and managing the soft suspension and agricultural gearbox is a rewarding challenge on a bike that handles and brakes rather better than you might expect. There is an original brochure and spec-sheet on file too, which is a nice touch and it looks exactly like the pictures in real life. So different, so ’70s.
