Norton ES2
Sweet-sounding easy-starting big single with modern electronics.
Completely rebuilt in 2009 with bills for crankshaft work and lots of new parts including carburettor, levers and cables. It may not have done many miles since; we don’t know; because it sounds mechanically excellent. Fitted with an Alton magdyno electronic ignition and regulator/rectifier unit for strong and reliable sparks. In 2010 it lost it’s original registration number but it remains a matching numbers machine in the V5C and stamps on the engine and frame. A dating certificate from the Norton Owners Club confirms the numbers are 1954 ES2 and there is a collection of old MOTs with the invoices for parts. No history prior to re-registration though. Cosmetically challenged in some areas as you can see, particularly the fuel tank which looks good inside but the outside appears to have been filled and painted by an amateur. Just emerged from the workshop after much more work than anticipated, it’s almost there now. Returning things to standard usually improves the package and this has certainly been the case.
