Norton 850 Commando
Well sorted 850 Commando with lots of upgrades and history from USA and UK.
Matching numbers 1973 Commando Roadster in black with some really tasty and practical upgrades. The most obvious is the RGM front brake conversion which is as good as it looks when you need to stop safely and quickly. Vernier adjusters on all Isolastic engine mounts are less obvious but invaluable when it comes to adjusting those critical mountings. Rear-set footrests with Norton flat handlebars is a good combination and not overly sporty in fact as the standard footpegs are soo far forward anyway. The classic Roadster look with those upswept silencers is hard to beat isn’t it? The document file is comprehensive and testimony to a cherished life in the hands of the last owner since 1995. The same owner bought the bike in the USA and used it there until moving back to the UK in 2000. Lots of old MOTs and invoices for parts including recent new carburettors and swing-arm bearings. Mechanically quiet and smoke-free, starts easily and idles smoothly as you can hear. It’s oily at the front of the cylinders though, and down on compression on one side so for this price it comes with a top-end rebuild to ensure all is healthy and oil-tight. If that’s a job you’re happy to do yourself please call and we can talk about a lower price for you. It’s not in concours condition but it’s excellent all round; no bad bits; and comes from a very good home so truly one you can enjoy riding and showing off.
